In 2017, Culture Days weekend will take place across Canada September 29, 30 and October 1, and will feature thousands of free, hands-on, interactive activities that invite members of the public to discover, participate in and engage with the arts and cultural life of their communities. Here in Yukon we will be combining Culture Days with Doors Open, an annual international event that provides free public access to culturally and historically important buildings, and celebrating our local arts, heritage and culture with lots of free, hands-on, interactive activities that invite the public to participate “behind the scenes” including a mystery tour, self-guided heritage and culture tours, artist demonstrations and more. This is a great (and free) way to discover the world of artists, creators, historians, architects, curators, and designers at work in their community.
As a grassroots, collaborative movement, Culture Days relies on your participation. Whether as an arts or cultural organization, an artist, a municipality, a school, a citizen, a business person…everyone can play a role in shaping this event. So get involved!
Want to present an activity?
We are looking for Yukon-based artists and arts, heritage and cultural organizations from across the territory who would be willing to open their doors free of charge on one or more days, present free special activities or both, in order to make arts and culture more accessible to the public.
